Pictures and Comments
The barn is a simple 'shed row' design. It stays very cool in the summer as the air is free to circulate and the stalls get maximum shade protection from the extended roof both on the front and back. Each stall has an open window in the back, and since the doors are centered in the middle of the stall they can also hang their head over the door with out aggrivating their neighbor. The windows do close, and the back of the barn is towards the northwest, so the horses get protection from the winter wind while getting the winter sun.
In this photo you see the tack room and bathroom doors, and the center aisle way which is used to store hay.
These are the cross ties in front of the tackroom & bathroom end of the barn. They are aprox 12 X 12 with a concrete floor.
The tack room is 12 X 18. Boarders get 1 saddle rack per horse and the surrounding floor and wall space for a tack trunk and bridle hooks.
This is the barn yard between the barn (left) and the riding arena (right).
The barnyard is open for riding, is aprox 1/4 mile around the perimiter (good to know for conditioning), with a trail/obstacle course and a modest grass 20 X 60 meter dressage arena (not pictured).
The riding arena is 86 ft X 190 ft in size, with a 2 board fence, and sand/grass footing. It drains immediately after rain, and though it is grass in the center we do occasionally disc the sides against the wall for a flat, not rutted, riding area.
This is our ditch obstacle on our trail course. It has come in usefully for teaching horses not to jump smaller ditches, and that stepping down is nothing fearful. You can see the riding arena and the end of the barn in the background.
Our other obstacles include tires, a bridge, a very steep bank, an equine 'half pipe' (big big ditch, seen below) and various other 'desensitizing' props such as hula-hoops, pool noodles etc.
We are not a breed or riding discipline bias facility. Infact, we believe in versatility being the spice of life!
